Junior OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) registered 12 kills, 21 digs and three blocks as No. 4 UMass Lowell defeated No. 8 Southern Connecticut State, 3-1,

Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Tournament semifinal at the Costello Athletic Center.

Game scores were 25-9, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13.

With the victory, UMass Lowell advances to the NE-10 Championship match Saturday night at 7:00 against No. 2 Adelphi (27-8), who eked out a 3-2 victory over Bentley in the other semifinal.

The victory was the fifth straight for the River Hawks (21-9) who advance to the NE-10 Championship game for the second time in their 10-year history as a NE-10 member. UMass Lowell moved on to the final in 2002, falling to Bentley, 3-2.

Southern Connecticut (26-10), which stunned No. 1 New Haven Friday night in the quarterfinal, 3-2, awaits NCAA Tournament pairings to be announced Sunday night.

In its winning three sets, UMass Lowell jumped out to early leads – 15-2 in the first, 12-4 in the third and 14-4 in the decisive fourth – and never looked back.

Hadder hit .346 (12 kills, three errors, 26 attempts) and also served two aces. Junior MH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) added 10 kills and six blocks, including four solo while junior OH Vicky Wong (Tewksbury, MA) served a match-high six aces in addition to nine digs and four kills.

Senior OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) chipped in eight kills while senior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) compiled 35 assists, eight digs and two aces. Senior libero Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the defense with a match-high 21 digs.

Senior OH Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, MN) led the Owls with 11 kills and 20 digs while senior MB Nekane Medizabal (Stratford, CT) added seven kills and three blocks. Freshman S Kim Lachowicz (Mansfield, TX) dealt 27 assists.
