Junior F Brianne Bozzella (Wilmington, MA) scored the lone goal in the 52nd minute as UMass Lowell collected its eighth straight shutout with a 1-0 win at Pace University Saturday afternoon.

The victory extended UMass Lowell’s unbeaten streak to nine as the River Hawks improved to 8-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in the NE-10. The shutout also extended the River Hawks string of scoreless minutes to 852 – a perpetual school record – entering Tuesday night’s home tilt against Bentley (7:00).

With a shutout against Bentley, the River Hawks will tie the school record of nine, set in 2005.

Pace slipped to 1-9-1 overall and 0-8-0 in the NE-10.

UMass Lowell outshot the Setters 29-6 overall and 13-5 on target as senior G Jamie Gillis (North Billerica, MA) turned away all five shots en route to the 32nd clean sheet of her career. Sophomore G Monique Morey had 12 saves for Pace.

UMass Lowell scored the winner in the 52nd when sophomore M Maddy Bissaillon (Merrimac, MA) dropped off a ball at the top of the box for Bozzella, who one-timed a blast to the low, right of Morey.

The goal was Bozzella’s fifth of the year and second in as many games.

The River Hawks had several other opportunities, hitting the crossbar twice and the post once.
