Travis Kellegrew, a freshman from Chelmsford, MA (Chelmsford H.S), was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week Thursday after leading the UMass Lowell golf team to 23rd place at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Captains Golf Course.
Kellegrew carded a 79 for his first round and followed with a 78 for day two to finish with a 157, good for a tie for 64th place among the 195 players representing 39 NCAA Division I, II and III teams.
UMass Lowell scored a two-round 654, highlighting with a 317 for Tuesday’s second round, down from a 329 on Monday.
The Tournament was the final competition of the fall schedule for UMass Lowell. Kellegrew wrapped his first semester with an average of 80.90, registering in the 70s in three of his last four rounds.
Kellegrew is the son of John and Barbara Kellegrew of Chelmsford, MA.
