No. 5 River Hawks Earn 3-2 Win at Franklin Pierce

Junior forward Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) broke a 2-2 tie in the 69th minute of play (68:06) to capture the River Hawks' 14th win of the year at Franklin Pierce on Saturday.
With the win, the No. 5 River Hawks sit at 14-3 on the year with a 6-2 clip in Northeast-10 play. The Ravens fell to 7-9 on the year with a 5-2 mark in conference action.
Junior forward Katie Enaire (Amesbury, MA) tallied the first two River Hawk goals, while Liz Day (North Andover, MA) and Molly Clay (Rockport, MA) added assists on the day.
UMass Lowell fell into an early deficit, as Franklin Pierce's Katie Debler (Walpole, MA) scored 0:28 into the game. It wasn't until the final minutes of the first half that the River Hawks knotted the score at one, as Day grabbed a rebound from the right side and dished the ball to Enaire for her 14th goal of the year.
The duo gave the River Hawks a 2-1 lead in the start of the second, as Day found Enaire again in the 41st minute of play (40:12) for the score.
As the second half wound down, Franklin Pierce answered back, as Kimberly Jaksina (Townsend, ME) netted her fourth tally of the year on a penalty stroke in the 62nd minute of play (61:45).
Macy's goal with 1:54 remaining in regulation was assisted by senior midfielder Clay and proved to be the push UMass Lowell needed to secure the victory. Macy poked the ball in through a scramble in front of the cage, tallying her 21st goal of the year.
The River Hawks outshot their opponent 22-9 on the day and only allowed five shots on goal. Junior Amy Carbon (Bellingham, MA) played the entire game, allowing two goals and stopping three shots. Raven netminder Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, MA) made nine saves on the day, allowing three goals.
The River Hawks to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when they host the Falcons of Bentley University at 7:00 p.m. for their last regular-season home game of the 2009 campaign.
