Junior forward Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) and midfielder Jaime Hadley (Chelmsford, MA) were named Northeast-10 Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, after helping the No. 5 River Hawks to a 2-0 week, with 5-1 wins over both American International and Saint Michael’s.
Macy finished the week with four goals and an assist for nine points over the two-game stretch. She scored a natural hat trick in Wednesday’s road win at AIC, tallying the River Hawks first three goals of the game. She scored once and added an assist in the home contest against Saint Michael’s on Saturday afternoon. Macy tallied 16 shots on the week and notched the game-winner in each of the victories.
Macy’s 7.07 shots per game, 3.00 points per game and 1.29 goals per game rank her atop the NE-10. Her six game-winners this season put her at second place in the conference.
This is the second time Macy has earned the NE-10 Player of the Week this season, her last coming on Aug. 31 after her efforts during the opening weekend of play.
Hadley’s solid defensive efforts helped UMass Lowell through their two-win week. She made a defensive save at AIC on Wednesday and helped the defensive corps to only allow 11 shots on goal during the two-game span. The River Hawks also owned an 11-0 advantage in penalty corners on Saturday against Saint Michael’s.
UMass Lowell is currently allowing an average of 1.36 goals per game, ranked third in the conference.
The River Hawks improved to 12-2 on the year with a 4-1 mark in conference play and will return to action with an NE-10 game on Tuesday at home, when they take on the No. 4 Stonehill Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m.
