Field Hockey: Macy, UMass Lowell Blanks Bentley, 2-0

WALTHAM, MA – Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) scored two goals as No. 4 UMass Lowell shutout Bentley, 2-0, in Northeast-10 field hockey action Wednesday night.

The River Hawks have won three straight and improve to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the NE-10. The Falcons are 1-4 overall and 1-2 in league games with the loss.

Macy provided all the scoring in the match, netting both goals just over two minutes apart in the first half.

She scored her first of the night at 24:30 with an assist from Katie Enaire (Amesbury, MA). The second tally came in the 27th minute (26:45) with an assist from Michelle Harrington (Rockport, MA).

The River Hawks out-shot the Falcons, 16-13 for the game. UML also held the advantage in penalty corners, 6-5.

Danielle Dodier (Kensington, NH) earned her third straight win and second straight shutout. She tied her season-high with six saves in the match.

Alyssa Sliney (Brewster, MA) made seven saves for Bentley, but took the loss.

The River Hawks return to the field Saturday afternoon when they host Merrimack. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. Bentley is at Stonehill on Saturday afternoon (12:00 p.m.).
