INDIANA, PA – Brittany Owens (Reading, PA) scored twice to lead Indiana University (PA) to a 3-0 win over UMass Lowell in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
IUP improves to 2-0 on the year with the win. UML falls to 0-2 with the loss. The River Hawks next in action Tuesday night for the 2008 home opener when they host Stonehill. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Cushing Field.
Owens, who scored Friday in the series opener, netted the first two goals of Saturday’s game. Owens struck first at 7:46 of the first half. She scored her second goal of the day, third of the year, in the 53rd minute.
Trish Morris (Royersford, PA) added a third goal for the Crimson Hawks when she found the back of the net at 64:30.
IUP out-shot UML 6-1 in the second half and 11-3 for the match. The Crimson Hawks also held the advantage in penalty corners, 5-3.
Lydia Dolly (Lancaster, PA) got the win for IUP, making made three saves for the second consecutive day.
Danielle Dodier (Kensington, NH) took the loss in goal for the River Hawks. Dodier made six saves, but allowed three goals in 64:30 of playing time.
Amy Carbon (Bellingham, MA) played the final 5:30 in relief of Dodier. Carbon did not allow a goal or make a save.
Jaci Moulton (Baldwinville, MA), Katie Enaire (Amesbury, MA) and Abby Auld recorded the three shots for the River Hawks.
