Franklin Pierce Turns Back UMass Lowell, 3-2

LOWELL – Junior OH Caitlynn Parnell (Medina, TX) compiled 18 kills and 12 digs as Franklin Pierce University overcame a 0-2 deficit to defeat UMass Lowell, 3-2, Friday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center. Game scores were 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 19-25, 15-5. With the loss, the River Hawks slipped to 14-16 overall and 6-7 in the Conference entering Saturday’s regular season finale at home against American International (1:00). The River Hawks must win Saturday’s clash to secure a bid to the NE-10 Tournament Friday and Saturday at Pace. Franklin Pierce improved to 17-16 overall and 8-5 in the Conference and wraps the regular season at Stonehill Saturday (1:00). Sophomore OH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) led the River Hawks with 14 kills and four blocks while junior Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) added nine kills, 11 digs and seven blocks. Junior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 25 assists and collected nine digs. Senior Emily Schultz (Salem, WI) added 15 kills and 13 digs for the Ravens while sophomore OH Diana Rutt (chipped in 13 kills and seven digs. Senior S Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, CA) dealt 51 assists and also added 11 digs and three blocks.
