LOWELL – Senior MH Charisse Cotton (East Patchogue, NY) compiled 16 kills while graduate student Rhe-Ann Niles (St. Thomas, Barbados) added 15 as the University of New Haven defeated UMass Lowell, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-12) Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center. The loss was the fourth straight for the River Hawks, who slipped to 7-12 overall and 2-4 in the NE-10 entering next Wednesday’s (Oct. 15) clash at Merrimack (7:00). New Haven improved to 13-3 overall and 6-0 in the Conference and visits Shippensburg Friday at 7:00. Junior OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) led the River Hawks with 10 kills while sophomore OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) added six kills and five digs. Junior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dealt 22 assists. The Chargers hit .394 as a team, led by Cotton (.682) and Niles (.560). Senior S Yael Rosner (Haifa, Israel) dished out 42 assists and added 14 digs. Senior OH Brittani Cotton (East Patchogue, NY) chipped in eight kills and nine digs.
