OLD WESTBURY, NY – Sophomore F Stephen Potcner (Wilmington, MA) scored in the 70th minute as No. 24 UMass Lowell drew 1-1 in double overtime with New York Institute of Technology Wednesday in Old Westbury, NY. With the draw, the River Hawks stand at 3-1-3 overall entering Saturday’s match at Saint Anselm (1:00). NYIT is currently 4-2-1. UMass Lowell outshot the Bears 11-9 overall and 5-2 on target. Junior G Ryan Richards (Holden, MA) had one save and saw his goalless streak end at 371 consecutive minutes when sophomore F Maciek Serafin converted a through-ball from junior F Andre Lee in the 54th minute. Potcner leveled in the 70th when junior M Jhony Valencia (Lowell, MA) launched a 30-yard ball behind the NYIT defense, enabling Potcner for a breakaway which he tucked by junior G Cosimo D’Agostino. UML nearly opened the scoring in the 34th minute as a header by senior F Matt Dubois (Dracut, MA) hit the crossbar. Dubois nearly gave UMass Lowell the lead in the 72nd, but was again denied by the crossbar on a breakaway attempt. D’Agostino had four saves for NYIT.
