OAKDALE, NY - Sophomore MH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) compiled 15 kills as UMass Lowell suffered a 1-3 loss to Adelphi and a 0-3 setback to Dowling Saturday in a pair of non-conference volleyball matches in Oakdale, NY. With the losses, UMass Lowell slipped to 7-11 entering Tuesday's home match against the University of New Haven (7:00). Adelphi improved to 14-6 overall while Dowling improved to 20-4. In the loss to Adelphi, senior OH Samantha Johnston compiled 17 kills and 19 digs as Adelphi prevailed 25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 25-19. Junior OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) led the River Hawks with 11 kills and 13 digs while Coscia and sophomore OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) each added 10 kills. Junior DS Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the defense with 21 digs while sophomore OH Vicky Wong (Tewksbury, MA) chipped in 13. Junior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 25 assists in addition to 13 digs. Senior RSH Kathleen Carney added 14 kills for the Panthers while junior MB Kelsey Hacket chipped in 11 kills. In the loss to Dowling (13-25, 17-25, 17-25), Hadder led UMass Lowell with six kills while Coscia added five. Junior OH Patricja Klekotka led the Golden Lions with 10 kills while junior OH Marina Markovic added nine kills.
