LOWELL - Junior F Victor Colon, a senior from Chicago, IL (Niles West H.S.), was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week after leading the UMass Lowell men's basketball team to a 1-1 showing last week.
Colon posted averages of 26.5 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting .524 from 3-point range (11-21) as the River Hawks suffered an 87-72 loss at Saint Anselm last Wednesday but rebounded with a 70-64 victory at Dominican Saturday.
In the loss at Saint Anselm, Colon registered a career-high 25 points and matched his career high of nine rebounds while converting 7 of 12 attempts from 3-point territory. He eclipsed those highs with 28 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Dominican, in which he meshed 4 of 9 treys and grabbed seven offensive rebounds.
UMass Lowell is currently 5-3 overall - 3-1 on the road - and 2-3 in the NE-10 entering Tuesday's home clash against Assumption (7:30).
Colon is the son of Yamil Colon and Olga Gonzalez of Chicago, IL.
