No. 4 UMass Lowell Downs Franklin Pierce, 5-1

LOWELL, MA - Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) and Lizzy Ales (Arlington, MA) each had a goal and an assist as No. 4 UMass Lowell defeated Franklin Pierce, 5-1, Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 field hockey action at Cushing Field. The River Hawks have won six straight and improve to 17-3 overall and 17-1 in the NE-10 with the win. The Ravens have lost three straight and fall to 7-12 overall and 7-11 in the NE-10. In addition to Macy and Ales, Missy Seeley (East Hampstead, NH), Katie Enaire (Amesbury, MA), Jill Tierney (Newburyport, MA) scored for UML. Michelle Harrington (Rockport, MA) had two assists. Harrington leads the team with 17 assists. The River Hawks scored three first half goals, and two in the second. Seeley and Harrington teamed up to open the scoring in the match at the 10:27 mark. Seeley scored the goal, her fifth of the year, with Harrington picking up the assist. Macy figured into the next two goals for UML, assisting on Enaire's 13th of the year in the 29th minute and scoring her 22nd of the year in the 33rd minute. In between the Enaire and Macy goals, Kimberly Jaksina (Townsend, MA) scored the Ravens only goal of the afternoon at 30:49. Tierney got the second half offense going with her ninth goal of the season in the 48th minute. Jaci Moulton (Baldwinville, MA) earned the assist. Ales, who assisted on Macy's tally, picked up her third goal of the season at 61:27 to cap the scoring in the match. Danielle Dodier (Kensington, NH) made the start in goal for UML and picked up her fifth win of the year. She made one save and allowed one goal. Amy Carbon (Bellingham, MA) played the final 35 minutes in goal. She did not face a shot on goal. Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, ME) made eight saves in goal for Franklin Pierce, but took the loss. Rachel Baxter (Cumberland, RI) played the final 5:35 and made one save. Saturday's match was the regular season finale for UML. The River Hawks will next play Saturday afternoon as part of the 2008 Northeast-10 tournament. UML is the tournament host. Game times have not been announced.
