MANCHESTER, NH – Heather Woodward (Ashburnham, MA) scored two goals as No. 4 UMass Lowell shutout Saint Anselm, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 field hockey action. The River Hawks improve to 16-3 overall and 16-1 in the NE-10 with the win. The Hawks fall to 6-11 overall and 6-11 in the NE-10. The River Hawks clinched the NE-10 regular season title with the win. Along with Woodward’s two goals, Michelle Harrington (Rockport, MA) and Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) scored for the River Hawks. Harrington and Macy each scored first half goals to give UML a 2-0 lead after 35 minutes of play. Harrington opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Macy netted her team-leading 21st of the season in the 31st minute of play. Woodward capped the scoring in the match with two goals late in the first half. Woodward, who has five goals on the season, scored her first of the night at 60:06. Her second tally of the afternoon came at 65:27. Both goals were unassisted. Amy Carbon (Bellingham, MA) got the win in goal for UML. She played the first 60 minutes of the match and did not allow a goal or make a save. Danielle Dodier (Kensington, NH) played the final 10 minutes and did not allow a goal. Riley Haddock (Falmouth ME) made 11 saves for Saint Anselm, but took the loss allowing four goals. The River Hawks out-shot the Hawks 15-3 in the first half and 22-4 for the game. UML also held the advantage in penalty corners, 11-3. The River Hawks are next in action Saturday afternoon when they host Franklin Pierce. The Hawks next play Saturday when they host Stonehill.
