LOWELL, MA – Sophomore OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) compiled 17 kills and nine blocks and hit .516 as UMass Lowell defeated Franklin Pierce University, 3-1, Friday night in a non-conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center. Game scores were 25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 25-11. With the win, the River Hawks improved to 3-2 entering Saturday’s matches with Georgian Court (11:00) and Merrimack (1:00). Franklin Pierce slipped to 2-4 overall and meets Merrimack Saturday at 11:00 and Georgian Court at 1:00. Sophomore OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) added 15 kills and 10 digs while hitting .417. Sophomore MH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) chipped in 10 kills and three blocks. Junior Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 39 assists along with seven digs and three blocks while junior DS Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) had a team-high 14 digs. Junior OH Katie Ristow (Miami, FL) led the Ravens with 12 kills while junior OH Caitlynn Parnell (Medina, TX) added nine kills and seven digs. Senior S Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, CA) dished out 38 assists in addition to six digs. In the later match, Senior OH Angie Casado (Brick, NJ) compiled 16 kills, 21 assists and 23 digs to lead Georgian Court over Merrimack, 3-2 (22-25, 27-25, 25-21, 17-25, 15-13). Junior OH Janelle Murdock (Manahawkin, NJ) added 13 kills and 11 digs while senior OH Claudimary Rivera (San Juan, PR) chipped in 11 kills and 29 digs to lead the Lions. Defensively, junior libero Ana Cruz (Bayamon, PR) compiled 75 digs while junior DS Lissette Zayas (Naranjito, PR) added 40 digs in addition to nine kills. Sophomore OH Molly Cindric (Westlake Village, CA) led the Warriors with 14 kills and 13 digs while senior MB Kristin Applegate (Hampstead, NH) had 13 kills while hitting .591. Senior MB chipped in 11 kills and 11 digs while junior OH Lisa Barr (Alberta, Canada) had 10 kills. Sophomore S Elyse Lorenz (Frankfort, IL) dished out 46 assists.
