Cross Country: UMass Lowell 10th at Iona Meet of Champions

BRONX, NY - Senior Ruben Sanca (Boston, MA) placed 12th in a field of 277 runners to lead the UMass Lowell men's cross country team to 10th place at the Iona College Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park.

UMass Lowell compiled 241 points (12, 25, 40, 52, 112) and finished tops among Division II and III schools in the meet, which drew 26 colleges. The University of Michigan won the team title with 39 points and was trailed by Penn State (121), the host Gaels (153), Navy (197) and Lehigh (205).

Sanca ran the five-mile course in 25:05.9 seconds - UMass Lowell's fastest individual time at Van Cortlandt Park - while junior Rex Radloff (Dedham, MA) placed 27th (25th among scoring runners) in 25:20.1, the program's third-fastest time at Van Cortlandt.

Freshman Angus MacDonald (Methuen, MA) placed 44th/40th in 25:40.8 while senior Jason DeDonato (Nashua, NH) finished 58th/ 52nd in 25:53.0 and senior Steve O'Brien (Groton, MA) 144th/112th in 27:09.0.

Cameron Levin of Southern Utah University won the individual title in 24:24.1.

On the women's side, senior Sarah Brassard (Oxford, MA), UMass Lowell's sole entry, placed 116th in a field of 224 Division I, II and III runners in 24:51.0 for the 6K course.
