Junior sprinter Diamond Jones (Lowell, Mass.) was named UMass Lowell’s Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week Wednesday after leading the women’s track and field team to a first place finish at the Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis University on Friday afternoon.

Jones won both the 55 and 200 meter dashes and triple jump for a total of 30 points.

Jones won the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.18 seconds and went on to win the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.74 seconds.

In the triple jump Jones had a total of 36’ 6.25” to take first place.

Jones contributed 30 of the 223 points UMass Lowell earned to finish in first place.

Jones is the daughter of Attle Young and Ben Jones of Lowell, Mass.
