Senior Jeff Veiga (Lowell, Mass.) was named UMass Lowell’s Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after placing first in the
NCAA East Region Men's Cross Country Championship Sunday afternoon at Mine Falls Park.
Veiga Finished the 10K course in 28 minutes, 53.8 seconds – a 4:39 per mile pace and booked his place at the NCAA Championship Saturday, Nov. 17 in Joplin, Mo.
Veiga help lead UMass Lowell to a fourth place finish overall.
Veiga is the son of Leolinda and Duarte Veiga of Lowell, Mass
