Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) was named UMass Lowell's Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week Wednesday after leading the volleyball team to wins over Southern New Hampshire, Saint Anselm and Saint Michael's.
Last Thursday UMass Lowell beat Southern New Hampshire 3-1, then on Saturday at Saint Anselm they defeated the Hawks 3-1 and finished the week with a 3-2 victory over Saint Michael's on Tuesday afternoon. All three games the River Hawks trailed 1-0 going into the second set.
Smith had 11 kills, one ace and three blocks against the Penmen, she followed that up with 13 kills, one ace and four blocks versus the Hawks and finished the week with 13 kills, five aces and two blocks.
Smith has 119 kills, 14 assist and aces, 67 digs and 29 total blocks for the 8-7 River Hawks.
Smith is the daughter of Laura and Kearey Smith of Moraga, CA
