BOSTON – For the second time this season, freshman Ioanna Papatheodorou (Nea Erithraia, Greece) has been tabbed the America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday morning.
In Sunday’s America East opener, the forward fired in a shot from long-range to net the game-winning goal in the 77th minute, lifting the River Hawks to a 2-1 win over NJIT at Cushing Field.
Papatheodorou has had a prolific rookie season thus far for the River Hawks, racking up a team-best six goals in just eight games. Sunday night’s goal also marked her third game-winner this season, also a team best.
This week’s honor is the second of Papaptheodorou’s career at UMass Lowell.
