Biography
AS A JUNIOR (2017): Tyrrell started 13 of 16 games in his junior season and posted a team-best and career-high 40 points (17g,23a). His 23 assists were also a career-high, which led the River Hawks' roster. He notched points in all 16 games and tallied 12 multi-point efforts. Tied a career-high with five points (2g,3a) vs. Siena on February 25th. Notched five multi-assist efforts and four multi-goal efforts. He also totaled 35 ground balls, which ranked fourth on the River Hawks' roster.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2016): Started all 16 games … led the team with 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points … recorded 49 shots with 36 shots on goal for a shot on goal percentage of .735 … scored the game winning goal against NJIT (4.30) … posted 42 groundballs and three caused turnovers … scored a career-high four goals at Wagner (3.15).
AS A FRESHMAN (2015): Appeared in all 14 games while starting 13 - Named to America East All-Rookie Team - Tied for first in goals (14) and second in points (24) on the team in 14 games for the River Hawks this season - Added a career-high five points (4g,1a) in the program's first DI victory over NJIT on March 7 - Named America East Rookie of the Week on March 9 - Named River Hawk of the Week on March 9 - Scored first career goal in season opener at Yale on Feb. 14 - Tallied first multi-point game (2g, 1a) against Siena on Feb. 21 - Recorded hat tricks against Vermont on March 21 and at Dartmouth on April 21.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-sport athlete at Central Memorial H.S. - Playing four years of basketball, volleyball, badminton, and one year of track. He received the Male Athlete of the Year award in his freshman, sophomore, and junior year - Was announced as Calgary’s Most Outstanding high school male volleyball player - Also awarded the Hear and Hustle Award for both volleyball and basketball his sophomore and junior year. Also played Provincial hockey.
CLUB: In 2017 he played for the Sr. A New Westminster Salmonbellies. Was was member of the Jr. A Okotoks Raiders that played in the 2016 Minto Cup - Played for the Jr. B Mountaineers for Head Coach Wayne Sutherland. Helped lead his team to 2013 Silver Medal at the Founders Cup and was awarded team MVP honors - Winner of the Jim Burke Award and the regular season points leader with 101 points (41 goals and 60 assists) in 19 games - Helped lead his team to a 2013 State and South Division Championship – Was 2012 Rookie Scorer of the Year with 46 points (19 goals and 27 assists) in 16 games - Was awarded the team MVP during 2012 Founders Cup quarter finals game with 21 points (8 goals and 13 assists) in seven games.
Personal: Son of Robyn and John Tyrrell - Has two older brothers (Mike, Zippy) - Current Assistant at Tampa for their Men's Lacrosse team and alumni of the team - His favorite professional sports teams are the Calgary Flames, Roughnecks, Stampeders and Seattle Seahawks – Nickname: “Scrappy” – Hobbies include playing Xbox, ice hockey, golf and tennis – His favorite movie is Wolf of Wall Street – He names Tracey Kelusky of the NLL's Calgary Roughnecks and Martin St. Louis as his favorite sports figures - Majoring in Exercise Physiology.
