LOWELL, Mass. -- Two incoming freshmen on the UMass Lowell Hockey team were selected on day two of the 2016 NHL Draft at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
Goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ontario) was chosen by the New York Rangers with the 174th pick in the 6th round, while forward Ryan Lohin (Chester, Pa.) was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning with the 208th pick in round seven.
Wall appeared in 31 games with the Leamington Flyers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) this past season, posting a 27-2-1 record, along with a 1.49 GAA, a .940 save percentage and four shutouts. The 6-3, 202-pounder led the league in GAA and percentage in 2015-16. He was selected as the GOJHL Rookie of the Year in the Western Conference this past season.
Lohin spent part of the 2015-16 season with the Madison Capitols of the USHL, where he recorded 16 goals, 23 assists for 39 points in 48 games, before moving to Waterloo. With the Black Hawks, The 6-0, 193-pound center, averaged over a point a game, notching seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 14 games. Lohin spent the entire 2014-15 season with Madison and had 10 goals and 16 assists in his rookie season in the USHL.

The 2016-17 River Hawks roster will feature four NHL draft picks, which also includes senior forward
Evan Campbell (Port Coquitlam, B.C.), who was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2013 and incoming freshman goalie Garrett Metcalf (Salt Lake City, Utah), who was drafted last season by the Anaheim Ducks with the 179th pick in the 6th round. It will mark the most draft picks on the current roster since UMass Lowell had five draftees on the 2000-2001 roster.
It's the first time since 2012 that two River Hawks were selected in one NHL Draft, which included Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg) and Dmitry Sinitsyn (Dallas).
