LOWELL, MASS. -- Voting went back and forth in the final days and hours but the votes are now tallied and the third "All-Era" team, representing the time period 1987-1997 has been selected as the celebration of 50 years of UMass Lowell hockey continues.
Over 600 fans voted in the third round of ballots, presented by Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union. The honorees names will be featured on an "All-Era" glass to be given out to the first 1,000 fans prior to the River Hawks Friday, December 2 game against Connecticut. [

Leading the way in voting was goaltender Dwyane Roloson, who carried 82 percent of the vote against Marty Fillion. In 106 games played, Roloson posted a 51-44-9 record to go with an .888 save percentage and two career shutouts. Roloson (1990-1994) was a Hobey Baker nominee with Lowell before going onto a 16-year NHL career. "Roli" retired following the 2012 season and currently works with the Anaheim Ducks.
In front of Roloson are a pair of standout defenders, who were decided in the final day of voting with a margin of less than five votes. Leading the way was Carl Valimont (1984-1988), who potted 19 goals and 55 assists during his four years in Lowell. He is paired on the backend with Scott Meehan (1989-1993), who's stay-at-home defense led a number of strong Lowell teams. In 124 games, Meehan chipped in four goals and nine assists. Meehan was voted in just ahead of Ed Campbell (1993-1996), with the margin of votes narrower than the outcome of most River Hawk games.
Up front, the squad features a trio of dynamic scorers led by Christian Sbrocca (1992-1996). In 158 games in Lowell, Sbrocca scored 56 goals while adding 115 assists. He is joined by Jeff Daw (1992-1996), who scored 68 goals and tallied 73 assists over 157 games played. Daw finished just three votes ahead of Craig Charron (1986-1990), who collected 64 goals and 84 assists in 142 games played. Just missing the cut were forwards Shane Henry (1990-1994), who appeared on 35 percent of ballots cast, and Mike Murray (1990-1994), who was listed on 30 percent of the ballots.Â
Voting for the fourth "All-Era" Team, spanning 1997-2007, will begin shortly and voting for each era will continue throughout the year as we celebrate 50 years of program history with Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union. This Friday night as the River Hawks host Vermont, the first 1,000 fans will receive the second collector's edition glass, featuring the Chiefs jersey. Mike Carr, Paul Lohnes, Paul Ames and Brian Doyle are all scheduled to be in attendance for a special ceremonial puck drop as well as a first intermission recognition. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure their glass.Â
