NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The UMass Lowell Women's Cross Country Team found some positives and otherwise midst the cold and wet at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet 3K, Friday afternoon, at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn.
"Some weeks some of the pieces come together, other weeks other pieces come together," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "That what you expect with a young team."
UMass Lowell finished ninth in a field of 20 teams. Boston College won the event, Providence finished second and Yale finished third.
Sophomore Jacqui Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.) was the first River Hawk finisher. She grabbed 23rd place in a field of nearly 130 runners in a time of 10-minutes and 37.89.
"She ran really well especially considering the conditions," said Gardner. "We were very pleased."
Freshman
Marissa Richards (Lowell, Mass.) turned in another solid performance. She ran the course in a time of 10:54.57 earning a 39th place finish.
"She ran well, but more importantly, she has put together two solid races," said Gardner. "We're working on consistency."
The next four UMass Lowell finishers crossed the finish line within seven seconds of one another.
Junior
Megan Mahoney (Billerica, Mass.) finished 55th with a time of 11:05.12. Freshman
Alli Wood (Chelmsford, Mass.) was 58th crossed the finish line at 11:08.42. Sophomore
