Matt Bynon

Bynon enters his second season as Assistant Coach with the River Hawk volleyball team. Head Coach Resa Provanzano announced his hire on March 19th, 2015.

The Rivier University graduate's responsibilities will include primarily working with the passers and defensive players, but will also help with off-court duties and the program's recruiting efforts.

Bynon was most recently the director of the Granite Coast Volleyball Club in 2014. He also served as a Recruiting Specialist for the club, as well. In his roles, Bynon would oversee the organization and help the athletes through the recruiting process, while evaluating talent.

Before his time with Granite Coast, the Nashua, N.H. native was a defensive specialist coach at the Spike Mountain Volleyball Camp in Castleton, Vt. He also was a coach of the Lakeside Volleyball Club in Burnt Hills, N.Y. from 2012-2014.

Bynon graduated from Rivier in December 2014, where he was a three-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion and a 2014 All-American. He is the current all-time digs leader at Rivier, as well. Bynon was named Defensive Player of the Year three times. Before Rivier, he attended Sage College of Albany, where he was named the Skyline Rookie of the Year in 2011, while leading the NCAA in digs.Â
