The UMass Lowell cross country and track and field teams will host Jennifer's Run, a 5K race which benefits the Jennifer D'Amour Scholarship Foundation, Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10:00 a.m.
The race, in its 12th year, funds two cross country and track and field scholarships at UMass Lowell.
The race is held in honor of the memory of Jennifer D'Amour, a member of the UMass Lowell cross country and track and field teams from 1994-98, who tragically lost her life in a car accident in May of 1999.
Registration for the race begins at 8:30 a.m. and will take place at the Tsongas Center. The entry fee is $20 for alumni and open runners and $15 for UMass Lowell students and those under 18 years of age.
The race course is a certified 5K course.
T-Shirts are guaranteed to the first 150 registrants. The top three male and female finishers overall will receive a cash prize of $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place.
Awards will also be presented to the top male and female finishers in the following divisions: Open (top three), Under 19, Ages 20-39, 40-49 and 50-plus. Awards will also be given to the top UMass Lowell non-varsity finishers as well as the top alumni.
Raffle prizes will also highlight the event.
