(1977) - Tom Gallagher enjoyed a highly successful athletic career at Lowell State college in the early 1960s. In basketball, Gallagher's accomplishments included being a top scorer as well as a rugged rebounder. His three-year average was 21.1 points per game while his scoring totals (1,162 points) ranked him fourth among LSC roundball leaders.
On the baseball diamond, Gallagher was an outstanding defensive shortstop while also performing as a pitcher and an outfielder. A standout with the bat, Gallagher led the country in batting average in 1961 with a mark of .559 (19 for 34), helping him to an overall .478 average at LSC.
