(1985) - One of only three four-time All-Americans in the University of Lowell's athletic history, Joe Brice was one of the finest weight men to ever participate for coach George Davis' men's track team. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Specializing in the discus and shot put, Brice held the school records for each event and earned his four All-American citations in the discus. As a fifth-year student, he was the recipient of the Lester H. Cushing Awards as the top male athlete at ULowell.

Outdoors, Brice won the Penn Relays, New England and Eastern League Championships as a senior and set a ULowell and Irish national record with a toss of 188' 3.0'' in the discus. He finished fourth in the NCAA Division II championships to be an All-American and 15th at the NCAA Division I meet.

As a freshman, Brice was fifth in the discus and was one of three ULowell All-Americans. In his second season, he won the Penn Relays for the first time with a throw of 197' 7.5'' and placed sixth at the NCAA Division II championships. Joe won his first Eastern League crown in the discus as a junior and finished fifth in the NCAA meet.

Indoors, he won the Eastern League title in the shot put twice and was undefeated in that event his final season of competition. He set the indoor shot put record with a toss of 55-0 that season, a standard that held firm for 30 years.
