(1997) - Gregg Bonheur, who is the only All-American golfer in UMass Lowell history, became the 104th inductee into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Bonheur, a resident of Lowell, earned honorable mention All-America honors during his career while playing under former UMass Lowell mentor Bob Callary.
A three-year letterwinner, Gregg came to UMass Lowell after a five-year stint in the United States Marine Corps and made two appearances in the NCAA Division II Championships as an at-large individual entrant.
Named by the Golf Coaches Association as an All-America Scholar, Bonheur was a two-time All-District I selection and was the NECC individual champion in 1987. During his junior season, Gregg earned all-America accolades and placed first in the ECAC Northern Qualifier and 16th overall in the ECAC Championships.
Unbeaten in match play, he posted a 78.3 stoke average in 18 rounds and placed 35th in the NCAA Championships. The team captain as a senior, Bonheur registered a 77.8 stroke average in 1989.
