(1988) - The wrestler with the most victories in school history, Don Olson is the second wrestler to be elected to the Athletic Hall of Fame. Elected in his first year of eligibility, Don joins his former coach and Lowell State wrestler Bob Germann in the Athletic Hall of Fame.
In his first season, competing only in the second semester (after sitting out one year due to transferring, Don was 11-0-0 in dual meets and finished fifth at the NCAA Regionals. During his second season, he was 13-6-1 and again finished fifth at the NCAA Regionals.
In his junior year (his original graduating class), Don was the first University of Lowell wrestler to ever be named to the prestigious New England All-Star meet, a feat he would duplicate his senior year. He was also named to the mid-season and post-season All-New England squads.
A transfer from Slippery Rock (PA) State College after one semester, Don a a career record of 76-10-2 in four seasons. As a fifth-year senior in 1983-84, he was 28-2 overall and finished fourth at the NCAA Eastern Regional. He was named to the mid-season All-New England team and the post-season All-New England team. During the season, he took first place in the Springfield College and Southern Connecticut State College Invitationals.
