(1994) - One in a long line of outstanding goalies that have played hockey at this school, Dana DeMole, is the twelfth member of the hockey program to be voted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was elected in his third year of eligibility. In his freshman season (1982083), Dana was named the ECAC Division II East Rookie of the Year and to the Division II All-New England team by New England Hockey Writers Association. He was voted by his teammates as the team's Rookie of the Year as a freshman, and the MVP and Unsung Hero his senior year (1985-86). A four year letterman playing for former coach Bill Riley, he served as co-captain as a senor and is one of only three goalies to ever serve as captain.
One of DeMole's most memorable performances was a brilliant 39-save effort in backstopping the team to a 3-2 triple overtime win over Babson College and its third straight ECAC East title in 1983. He was also named the ECAC tournament MVP. Dana set a school record with a 2.34 goals against average as a freshman. During the course of his career, he set 17 school records.
DeMole was the 1986 recipient of the New England Hockey Writers Association "Joe Tomasello Award" given annually to the unsung player of the year in the six-state New England region. He was twice named to the All-Tournament team at the RPI Invitational Tournament (1982 and 1983). He backstopped UML's first three Division I teams including the first two years of play in the Hockey East Association.
Following his collegiate playing days, DeMole played the 1986-87 season for the Virginia Lancers hockey team in the East Coast Hockey League. He was a first team all-star and had the lowest goals against average in the league.
