Chouinard was a four-year letter winner as a member of the softball program from 2000-2003. Regarded as one of the top players in the program's history, the shortstop/pitcher appeared in 192 games and registered a .362 career batting average with 195 hits, 100 runs scored, 31 doubles, 16 triples, 15 home runs and 101 RBIs.
 
In her final season with the River Hawks, Chouinard went out with a bang as she was named New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association Player of the Year. On the mound she posted a win-loss record of 17-10 with an ERA of 0.78. Included were five shutouts and three saves. In total, she struck out 140, while allowing 114 hits and 46 walks. Her most notable game was marked by a 17-inning performance, pitching the River Hawks to a 4-2 win over AIC for their first NCAA victory. She was chosen to the NE-10 conference's second team as a pitcher for her efforts.
 
Her list of accolades includes Second Team All-Conference pitcher, First Team All-Region Utility Player and First Team NEISCA pitcher. She was also selected to the All-Region All-Star team and received a student/athlete award for outstanding achievements at UMass Lowell. She made the NE-10 Second Team at shortstop her sophomore season and again as a pitcher the following year. As a rookie she was named conference Co-Pitcher of the Year.
 
"I am so incredibly honored and proud to have been chosen among some of the greatest athletes UMass Lowell has ever seen," stated Chouinard.
