Thursday, June 5
UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center – 7:00 pm

Consistent with our UMass Lowell Athletics mission of “Reaching Beyond the Games”, we are pleased to invite members of the high school community - coaches, players, administrators and parents alike - for a special seminar designed to aid high school student-athletes in their journey toward intercollegiate athletic participation.

Many hopeful high school student-athletes find themselves unsure and searching for direction in the path from high school to college; looking for answers to various questions and seeking guidance on how best to achieve their personal and athletic goals.  Simply ‘just being a good athlete’ is no longer enough to play sports in college: to do so they must also be informed, prepared and engaged in the transition from high school to college athletics.

In a one-night presentation, we have an opportunity to help each and every one of those young people realize their dreams and reach the appropriate level of athletic competition.  In addition, high school administrators and coaches will emerge from our presentation informed, empowered and better prepared to play their own role in this important process.

Guest speakers will include:

  • Dana Skinner, Director of Athletics - "Opening: Character Counts"
  • Dr. Joan Lehoullier, Senior Associate AD - "Balance for the Student-Athlete"
  • Kerri Mead, Co-Director of Admissions - "The Admissions Process"
  • Richard Kenney, Director of Compliance - "NCAA Eligibility"
  • Chris Foye, Athletic Health Care - "Performance Enhancement:
  • Blaise MacDonald, Head Ice Hockey Coach - "So, This is Division I"
  • Shannon Hlebichuk, Head Field Hockey Coach - "Finding the Right Fit"
  • Ted Priestly, Head Men's Soccer Coach - "Dream Big"
