The UMass Lowell Golf Team concluded its 2007-2008 season with several awards at its banquet.  Anthony Gallardo received the Player of the Year Award having lead the team to a sixth place finish at the NCAA East/Northeast Regional Championship as a team for the first time since the program was reinstated four years ago.  In addition he was a NE-10 First Team Alll-Conference selection and a Golf Coaches of America (GCAA) All-Northeast Region selection.

Andrew Albrecht was awarded the Freshman of the Year trophy as the teams best freshman player who made a significant contribution to this year's success while serving as the teams SAAC representative.

Three year player Ryan Bean was guest of honor as the team's only graduating player. Bean will be returning to UML in the fall to complete his Masters Degree in Plastics Engineering.

Juniors Anthony Gallardo and Tom Thiesing were elected co-captains of the 2008-2009 team which opens its fall season at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational in September.

"This was a special group of players who brought UML Golf to a new level but we've got our sites set on even higher achievements next season" said UML Head Coach Gary Mucica.
