Santos becomes second former River Hawk on Pride Roster
LOWELL, Mass. (June 11, 2008) – Anthony Santos (Chelmsford, Mass.), a two-year starter on the UMass Lowell baseball team, has signed with the Nashua Pride of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball.
Santos played two seasons for the River Hawks after transferring from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). He hit .283 with 102 hits, 51 runs scored and 64 runs batted in (RBI) over the two years. Santos started all 97 games which he played at UML.
The Chelmsford native enjoyed a solid senior season in 2008, ranking third on the team in average (.297), total bases (63) and hits (49). Santos, a co-captain, also had 19 runs scored, 27 RBI and 10 doubles in 44 games.
Santos joins former UML teammate Jerrod Edmonson (Johnson City, N.Y.) on the Pride roster. Edmonson played for the River Hawks as a senior in 2007.
UMass Lowell finished the 2008 season 26-24 overall and 18-12 in the Northeast-10. The River Hawks are coached by Ken Harring, who in four years as UML has amassed a 124-78 record.
